The global market for video games is almost four times as big as the movie business. It’s by far and away the largest segment of the entertainment industry. And within the video games market, mobile gaming continues to grow at the expense of other platforms.
Video games industry issues are sometimes the subject of litigation. Policy makers and regulators are increasingly interested in the field. It’s just a fact that mainstream media struggles to follow those proceedings–and even more so, to identify the outcome-determinative issues before and the actual consequences after a decision.
games fray‘s mission is to figure out what really matters and to explain it to a broader audience: not to the average citizen, but to the ones who need and/or really want to know, which includes gamers so passionate about the subject that they are prepared to make themselves familiar with legal theories and procedures.
Shortly before the end of 2023, games fray launched simultaneously with its two sibling sites, ai fray (on the regulation of Artifical Intelligence) and ip fray (on intellectual property licensing, litigation and legislation). All three projects share the goal of taking the coverage of complex and contentious issues to the next level, and there are plans to produce audiovisual media as well.
